J. Petruškevičienė exhibition Herbarium of Rinkoto

The works presented here are part of an exhibition “Herbarium of Rinkoto” which I arranged in June in Bratislava, Slovakia, at the invitation of Slovak Textile Artists Association TXT. Another part of works is currently included in the XVII International Mini Textile exhibition in Praha, Chech Republic.

“Herbarium of Rinkoto” is about the world of plants originated in Rinkoto forest reserve. Rare protected plants grow there. Rinkoto is not large, but very old. It is situated near one of three biggest Lithuanian lakes called Dusia. For many years I spend my summer holidays in this place. Shibori technique inspirated me and allowed to realize these various forms and structures.

I have been working in shibori since 1999, when I participated in VIII ETN conference in Rovaniemi, Finland. There I attended Patricia Black’s workshop and got acquainted with shibori. And I always mention Particia’s name with love and respect when talking about shibori.

I teach this technique in textile department Kaunas faculty Vilnius Academy of Arts. My students also like this technique very much.
